Domestic Abuse
We defend and enforce the housing rights of those escaping sexual and domestic abuse. We provide legal representation to survivors, challenging hostile treatment and unlawful ‘gatekeeping’ of support by Local Authority homelessness services. We develop strategic legal action to set legal precedents at local and regional levels, and challenge the role of central government in ensuring domestic abuse survivors have access to the resources they need in time of crisis.

Our legal expertise includes:
Domestic Abuse Act (2021)
Homelessness Applications
Management Transfers
Suitability of Accommodation
Housing Allocations (Banding)

We also support organisations with:
- Capacity-building through second-tier advice, training and legal assistance;
- Domestic Abuse and Housing Forum, an online group sharing latest legal updates and providing peer support across frontline and legal practitioners.
We will not rest until we see a fairer and more equitable society.
