Racial Justice & Migrants’ Rights

We believe in a world free of borders, whether physical or digital, where people are free to move or stay according to their will. Our work challenges entrenched systems and policies which trap migrants in poverty and exclusion, including racist hostile environment policies and barriers to settlement. We aim to transform material conditions for migrant communities.

Our legal expertise includes:

Asylum accommodation issues

Challenging Hostile Environment policies

Fee waiver applications

Barriers to settlement

Discrimination and equality issues

NHS charging

Data sharing and protection

Immigration raids

Civil claims for Home Office maladministration and unlawful detention

The use of AI and surveillance technologies against migrants

We also support communities with:

  • Capacity building and training
  • Supporting existing campaigns through advice and/or legal action
  • Representing groups and organisations in public inquiries, e.g. UCPI and Covid-19 Inquiry.
  • Commissioning and co-producing research highlighting systemic injustice faced by migrant and diaspora communities, e.g. outsourcing in the NHS and care work
